Operation and connections:

Works great as stated, no extra power and the cable is very long. I just plug the adapter directly into my laptop and connect it to the projector. I gave it five stars considering its price and quality.

Purchased these for use at a school. The new laptops this year came with HDMI out only and no VGA. After having tried several converters that didn't work with these new laptops and the variety of the projector models that the school has, it was nice to finally find one that works universally and at a reasonable price. I've been pleased with them so far. My only concern is that the VGA "box" does get fairly warm, which makes me wonder what impact that will have on the life of the converter. Time will tell. Would recommend this device to others looking for HDMI to VGA.
